Reginald Beaumont

Now in his 54th year of competitive soccer, Mr. Reginald Beaumont is an active player, coach, referee and mentor. He's not just the founding father of Merrimac soccer, has been instrumental in starting youth soccer in towns across the area including Amesbury, West Newbury, Groveland and Haverhill.

Here's a little bit of why he's important to all of us: 1935 Born in Leicester, England. 1970 Settled in Merrimac. 1976 Organized the 1st Merrimac youth soccer team. 1977 Founded the Merrimac Soccer Club. 1977-1983 President, Merrimac Soccer Club. 1977-1978 Head Coach, 1st soccer team at NECC 1978 2nd President, ECYSA 1984 Lobbied for soccer program at Pentucket School District. 1985 Pentucket's first soccer season begins. 1986-2002 United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Affiliated Referee. 1991 "Referee of the Year" - ECYSA 2000-2002 Head Coach, NEOTHSL Over-50 Select Team. 2002 "Beaumont Pitch" named in his honor. 2002 Over-50 Select National Champions 2003 Inducted into the Massachucetts Soccer Hall of Fame
The next time you find yourself shuffling through the crowds or hustling to get a parking spot at the pitch, take a moment to consider how much learning, strengthening and maturing has been cleverly disguised by the awesome sport of soccer. If you're lucky, you might bump into salty haired gentleman with a British accent that has spent the last 1/4 century making soccer happen for kids your community... If you do, tell him "Thanks".
